Canoeing Down the Sella River in Asturias

Experience one of the most popular outdoor activities in Asturias with a canoe trip down the beautiful Sella River. This unforgettable adventure takes you through stunning natural landscapes between Arriondas and Ribadesella, offering the perfect combination of fun, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery.

Whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or as a couple, the Sella River canoe descent is suitable for all ages from 5 years old and requires no previous experience. Gentle currents make this an easy and enjoyable activity for beginners while still providing plenty of excitement for adventure lovers.

What to Expect

The canoe descent follows a 13 km route along the River Sella and takes approximately 3 hours, including stops to rest, swim, enjoy the scenery, or have a picnic.

If you prefer a shorter route, you can finish halfway at Toraño, covering approximately 6 km.

The activity normally starts in the morning. Before departure, our experienced instructors will provide a short safety briefing and explain the paddling techniques, ensuring everyone feels comfortable before setting off.

At the end of the route, our staff will collect you and take you back to our facilities in Ribadesella, where you can use the changing rooms and enjoy a hot shower.

No previous canoeing experience is required.

Recommendations

To enjoy the activity comfortably, we recommend bringing:

T-shirt, shorts, or swimsuit
Sports shoes or water sandals
A towel and a complete change of clothes
Sunscreen
A strap for glasses or sunglasses

Your mobile phone, towel, clothes, and other personal belongings can be stored safely inside the waterproof barrel provided.

For safety reasons, avoid wearing jewellery such as watches, necklaces, or bracelets. The company cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged personal items.
