Suv 4×4 + Routes Cares: Cain – Poncebos “Picos de Europa”

Routes Cares is one of the biggest spectacles of nature of the Picos de Europa.
For a long time was the main communication via of all residents in this area. With our 4 × 4 vehicles, we offer you the possibility to reach the restricted areas of the National Park Picos de Europa. The places are of extreme beauty and there are accessible only with these types of vehicles, led by experienced local guides who will narrate you the characteristics and history of each place. These tours are designed for people of all ages and physical conditions.

Normally to do this route, there are 2 options:

a) to be able to walk in the opposite direction 12 km ( it is very long and repetitive).
b) have a vehicle waiting for you the way back.

We can and pick you up when you finish the walking route.

Option 1 – 4×4 Tour from Cangas de Onís + Ruta del Cares

Price: €46 per person

Itinerary

10:00 – Departure from Cangas de Onís (pick-up from other locations available on request).

Enjoy a spectacular 4×4 route through the southern side of the Picos de Europa, travelling via Oseja de Sajambre and the beautiful Vegabaño Forest.

Along the way you’ll visit:

• El Tombo Viewpoint
• Chorco de los Lobos (historic wolf trap)
• Scenic mountain tracks and spectacular viewpoints

14:00 – Arrival in Caín.

Optional lunch before starting the hike.

Ruta del Cares

• Route: Caín → Poncebos
• Distance: 12 km
• Duration: 3–4 hours
• Difficulty: Easy
• Self-guided walk

At the end of the hike, our transport will collect you in Poncebos and return you comfortably to Cangas de Onís.

Return departure:

• Summer: 20:00
• Winter: 19:00

Journey back to Cangas de Onís: approximately 45 minutes.

Option 2 – Hike First, Return by 4×4

Price: €45 per person

This option is perfect if you wish to leave your vehicle in Poncebos.

Itinerary

08:30 – Leave your vehicle in Poncebos.

Walk the famous Ruta del Cares from Poncebos to Caín at your own pace.

• Self-guided walk

14:00 – Arrival in Caín.

Optional lunch (not included).

In the afternoon, enjoy an unforgettable 4×4 journey across the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa, travelling through the spectacular Pandetrave and Áliva areas before returning to Poncebos.

You’ll cross the mountain range from south to north, passing behind the famous Fuente Dé Cable Car and enjoying panoramic views that very few visitors have the opportunity to experience.

Arrival back in Poncebos: approximately 19:30–20:00.

About the Ruta del Cares

The Ruta del Cares is one of the most famous hiking trails in Europe.

Originally built as a maintenance path for a hydroelectric canal, today it offers spectacular scenery with dramatic limestone cliffs, tunnels carved into the rock, hanging bridges, waterfalls, and breathtaking views over the Cares Gorge.

The trail is approximately 12 km long and mostly follows a gentle, almost flat route with only a few short climbs, making it suitable for most people with a reasonable level of fitness.

Along the hike you’ll cross the river over the impressive Rebecos and Bolín bridges while enjoying incredible views from hundreds of metres above the river below.
